Materia Magica : Tools of the Witch

Candles, herbs, oils and incense- all quintessential tools of the magical arte. In this lecture, join us for a deep dive into the history of craft and technique behind many of the most iconic ritual objects in witchcraft, examining recipes and examples from practicing magicians of the past. 

Students will explore a variety of historical uses for these objects and preparations, examining how they are made, used, and understood in the context of ritual magic. We will survey tools from across time periods and cultures, considering a wide range of applications and traditional rites in our investigation. Students will also encounter discussions of correspondences, consecration magic, and guidance on putting these tools to work in one’s own practice. In all the lecture will cover:
