About the event
The witch's altar is the center of their work. Grand or modest, it is the sacred ground upon which our craft is executed and pacts are sealed, where spirits are fed and spells are nourished. To work the altar is an effort in dedication and adoration, and to craft these sacred spaces for ourselves immerses us in a sea of icons, images, and sympathetic symbols.
This class is tailored for practitioners of any experience level, and will look at many examples of altarcraft from occult history. We will explore the role these sacred spaces play in magic and witchcraft, and analyze how conceptions of the witch's altar have changed throughout the centuries. Together, we will encounter an overview of altar styles found around the world, a look at altar objects and iconography, as well as useful tips for building and keeping these sacred spaces ourselves.
This event is presented in collaboration with Ritualist, a modern witch shop based in New Paltz, NY.
The live event will be recorded for all ticketholders. If you miss our live class, recordings will be sent along afterward.
