“Great Lady Under Earth is an experimental ritual artifact; it is a document of personal
experience & revelation, an essay and a shoal of spells, unearthed unfixed from any magical or
religious pretext. I sought these mysteries with an open heart and empty hands. I experienced a constellation of atmospheres & occurrences of High Strangeness with a corresponding tangle of inward realizations & events. My instincts dove down into the All-Belly and returned with a handful of wordless silt. I did not expect to come upon any of this, nor did I know how it would take shape.
I present it as it came to me, riven with tunnels and ordered by the unseen hand of Nature. I present Her as She came to me, not an openhanded meadow, but a pitch-dark cave,
Her body comprised of unknowns.”
